Mon, Jan 6 8:30 pm ESPN VIZIO BCS National Championship Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA BCS No 1 vs. BCS No 2CFN Preview 2013 Projected Matchup:Georgia vs. Texas
Top Three Other Options: 1) Alabama, 2) Oregon, 3) Florida State
Why? It’s the national championship in Pasadena; of course Texas has to be involved. The Longhorns lost the 2010 BCS championship to Alabama after Colt McCoy got knocked out right away, and, of course, Vince Young came up with his magnum opus in the 2007 Rose Bowl win over USC. The 2013 Longhorns are overdue under Mack Brown with 20 starters returning and a weakened Big 12 to get through. Assume one loss along the way to Oklahoma or at TCU, but if the team finally, finally starts to play up to its talent level again – granted, that’s a big, giant if – and it’s able to hold serve at home against Ole Miss, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, this should be the best of the one-loss teams.
The winner of the SEC championship will be a mortal lock for California as long as there aren’t any other BCS unbeatens. The Dawgs will lose once along the way, but a victory over Alabama or LSU will give Mark Richt the chance to finally get the big game gorilla off of his back in the first meeting against the Longhorns since the 10-9 win in the 1984 Cotton Bowl.
