South Carolina comes Between The Hedges today ranked #6 in all the land. When was the last time UGA had a home victory against a Top 10 opponent? (Hint: It wasn’t in 2008)
A: The last time that UGA had a home victory over any Top 10 opponent was 2002 against Tennessee. The Dawgs were #6 going into the game and the Vols were ranked #10 in the AP poll. UGA won 18 -13. … Over a decade ago.
Before that victory, you have to go back as ways to find another Top 10 win against an SEC opponent at home: #6 Dawgs beat #10 Alabama in 1976. So the Dawgs track record at home is (2) Top 10 SEC wins in 36 seasons.
Let’s have a KoolAid Kegger tonight toasting a win, boys!
That 76 game was incredible-if our fans can get close to that kind of frenzy-the chicken will be cooked
I remember the 1976 game very well. The Tide's star running back, I believe it was Johnny Davis had never been stopped for a loss of yardage. The dawgs stopped him for a loss, but then the officials changed it to stopped for no gain. Leaving his streak in tact. I was so thrilled with the outcome, I loaded up the family pitbull in my Vega and took her to Winn Dixie and bought her a steak.
LSU was #4 and the Dawgs lost 20-13. It was the excessive celebration call. Thanks for the comment and question
