Georgia senior quarterback Aaron Murray has been named the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week following his performance against sixth-ranked South Carolina, according to an announcement from the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Michigan State’s Shilique Calhoun earned National Defensive Player of the Week after returning a fumble and an interception for touchdowns against South Florida.

Murray, a native of Tampa, Fla., shredded the Gamecocks on 17-of-23 passing (74 percent) for 309 yards and four touchdowns.  He finished with a 244.2 pass efficiency mark as the Bulldogs topped South Carolina 41-30 in Sanford Stadium.

This was the ninth time in his career that Murray has had at least four passing touchdowns in a game.  He connected with eight different receivers, including first-time starter Justin Scott-Wesley who hauled in a career-long 85-yard touchdown to put Georgia up by 11 points in the fourth quarter.

Murray moved to No. 2 on the school’s all-time list for total offense with 10,907 yards in his career.

The Bulldogs are off this week before hosting LSU on Sept. 21 in Sanford Stadium.  Georgia is ranked ninth in Sunday’s Associated Press poll while the Tigers are eighth.
