I hate it for Turman that he may have to take a redshirt this year because I think he is a talented RB and football player, but he has had some injuries, none serious, hamper his development. When you are a freshman or PREP or JUCO transfer and new to a team and a offense, it is so important to be healthy to be able to practice and work out to be able to compete at this level. When you are hurt, every missed play, snap, practice, and workout sets you back.
At least Turman can have the year to learn the playbook, work on getting better, and come out and compete for a spot on the depth chart and playing time going forward. I don't want to jinx anybody, but each player on the depth chart behind a starter is one play a way and one injury away to a starter from themselves becoming a starter. That is why depth is so important. With Nick Chubb and Sony Michel coming in, in the 2014 class, we will have great depth IMHO for 2014 with Gurley, Marshall, Douglass, Turman, JJ Green, and freshmen Chubb and MIchel.
