Coach Wilson isn't playing favorites......I have seen him in action multiple times. He is playing the best we got.......and right now, John Taylor isn't in our top 4. That's just the fact.
If somebody can please show me where Johnathan Taylor has outplayed Smith, Drew and Mayes I would love to see it. Drew is outplayed everyone in my opinion.
The best one of the bench in my opinion is Toby Johnson.
Btw, you keep referring to John Taylor on that goaline stand, but he had nothing to do with the stop. If you could help me out that would be good.......he had no impact on the play looking at the film
Just saw (not sure if it has been mentioned here) that Hugh Freeze had to be held back by the Mississippi State Police after the loss to the Aggies this Saturday... apparently he was ready to go after some kids in the student section. The Ole Miss student section... let that sink in... what an idiot.
Reason number 1,857 we should be glad to have Coach Richt even when adversity rears its ugly little head in Athens.
What's up guys looks like I will be joining night crew got a new job which is good but a big con is I'll actually have to do work :/ I'll miss y'all in the morning!
The reason the rushing stats look good is because it's so easy to pass teams aren't bothering to run.
The front isn't dominating despite the amazing talent on the bench.
It seems like the fastest path to the bench is to dominate during your playing, no matter how limited.
Just look what happened to Taylor, who dominated against USC, even anchoring the goaline stand. Then there's Mayes, who dominated against LSU, then hardly plays subsequently.
Against C Dawson Thornton and Smith soaked up nearly all the snaps.
Against M, Dawson Smith and Drew soaked up almost all the snaps.
Meanwhile, future nfl stars Taylor Mayes & Johnson watch from the bench.
What a waste. You want to dominate? It starts up front.
I will never see Todd Grantham as bad as Willie Martinez, if not just for the way their D's play against Florida. I remember our defense having the worst game of the year against Florida every year under Willie, while it has been quite the opposite under Grantham
Bigredballer I'm looking at your list guys that you say we have a good shot at. So now you are saying it doesn't matter whether we get any of those kids. Does it matter to them that they don't know who the DC is going to be,i read this stuff about current recruits mentions CTG by name as to why they choose UGA,so are you saying that don't matter?
When we talk about CTG and recruiting what does the pro scouts say about UGA players. But what i want to say is here we go again, i wonder with all of this negative talk about our coaches and firings and you have a recuit trying to decide where he want to spin his three or four years playing football i don't think it helps us with those kids and the same people wonder why we can't keep the best players home.
THIS IS MY LAST STAT OF THE NIGHT!!!!!
FROM 2001-2004 UNDER BVG: (4 years)
UGA allowed 30+ points only 1 time and that was against LSU in SEC Championship Game in 2003 (34-13)
FROM 2005-2009 UNDER WILLIE MARTINEZ: (5 years)
UGA allowed 30+ points 15 times
From 2010-2013 UNDER TODD GRANTHAM (3 and 1/2 years)
UGA allowed 30+ points 17 times
Just going to point this out to the "Grantham brings in these studs" remarks and whatnot... CTG is ranked as the 227th best recruiter in the nation and 75th in the SEC. Barely cracked the top 100 in the conference. And I didn't know there was even that many recruiters in the SEC lol B-Mac is 2nd in the nation in recruiting for what its worth tho
@BillClinton That's pretty cool, Mr. Prez. wanting to see rump, I mean Rumph, heh heh...
@Rescue Dawg "Just look what happened to Taylor, who dominated against USC, even anchoring the goaline stand. Then there's Mayes, who dominated against LSU, then hardly plays subsequently."
"Meanwhile, future nfl stars Taylor Mayes & Johnson watch from the bench."
Could not agree more
When Richt was under fire a few years back (Willie's last year), our record vs Florida was a hot topic, Grantham may have saved Richts job
@BillClinton Well not to argue with your point, bc you are correct..........but a Urban Meyer ran offense with Tim Tebow is a little different than what Todd Grantham is going up against........but I do agree with you
@walterc6364 Guys like Detric Dukes, Kendall Baker, Malkolm Parrish.......they are coming to play for UGA, nothing was ever said about Todd Grantham.
As far as Lorenzo Carter and the remaining targets, will it make a difference???? Who really knows that answer, but I don't see it making a HUGE impact. Players signed in Feb not knowing what CTG was gonna do.......
Sometimes, you have to take that chance.
@walterc6364 I am not saying it doesn't matter.........but I don't think it would be a deal breaker. We only have 5 spots available, so if you are asking if I still think we would land 5 out of those guys above my answer would be yes.......
@walterc6364 If we signed only the 17 we have now, it would be a DANG good class. CTG is not make it or break it in this decision
We also have to remember how offensive football has evolved in the SEC over the years with more spread teams.
@bigredballer And counting.
@DawgyStyle Was B-Mac in on Marshall, Gurley, Turman, Michel and Chubb? That's a Damn good lineup of running backs, to say nothing of Green & Douglas..
@WVDawg=ICTAD I'd like to fire myself -- been staining a wood deck for the past few days...
Were playing our best defensive linemen.........when have teams passed the ball 50 times a game against us? Most teams we have played have been balanced.............
Our problem is not in the front.
Top 3 in SEC in sacks, 4th in run defense..........
@JMcKinneydawg Well if it's Randy Shannon, currently coaching linebackers at Arkansas (and formerly head coach at Da'U), then this makes him look better:
Sports Illustrated writer Alexander Wolff, in an August 2011 open letter to university president Donna Shalala, noted that Shannon "seems to have been the only person in Coral Gables who wanted nothing to do with Shapiro, reportedly warning his players to avoid him and threatening to fire assistants caught dealing with him."
@3legjack not too much just got back from class...
@BillClinton Was it Grantham or Muschamp???? Grantham will get the credit, but who do you think it was?
@walterc6364 What would you rather have???? Miss on a couple recruits or keep giving up 30 points a game? I think you have to sacrifice a little to get a lot............and in this case of scenarios, I don't think we would be sacrificing hardly anything
@BillClinton Yes that is true.......Jarvis has been the man against them the last 2 years.
@bigredballer @DawgyStyle @GoBigDog Grantham....to be or not to be? Seems like he's here for a while. But I'm surprised to read that he's only credited with one 2014 recruit. Is he purposely excused from active recruiting amongst UGA staff? Is that an unusually low profile for such a prestigious staff position, compared to other DC's in the ranks, but especially in the SEC? Or am I mis-interpreting the number of credited kills (sorry, there's probably much better terms.....) versus the time he actually spends talking to potential recruits? Just asking.....IMO, if I were a defense recruit out there I'd want to hear a lot from the DC at UGA.
