I've got to go folks. Got a live on-line lecture I have to watch for class. I hope you all have a good evening.
Remember, ICTAD before you go to bed and your dreams will be 125% more vivid and fun.
Ladies and gentlemen, I know a lot of us, myself included, kind of got caught up in the rumor mill on Monday and Tuesday over Todd Grantham possibly being fired; however, that is not the way the Georgia Athletic Department works. Whether or not Grantham is fired during the season also has nothing to do with Mark Richt's policy or if he is a nice guy. The fact is that the Georgia Athletic Department just doesn't let go or fire coaches during the middle of the season. I should have posted this then, but I got caught up in the rumor wave as well.
The only coach since the Vince Dooley era and the 1980s that I know was announced would be fired before the season was finished was Ray Goff in 1995 when his seat was so hot that it would have been brighter than the sun. It was announced he would be fired the week before the GT game after Wednesday's practice that year, but that he would be allowed to choose to finish the season and coach the GT game. He did so. The only reason this was made public then was because pressed the issue with then AD Vince Dooley so he could talk to the team on Thursday.
Jim Donnan, Willie Martinez, defensive ends coach Jon Fabris and linebackers/defensive co-coordinator John Janceck, and defensive line coach Rodney Garner were all let go after the season was over, and in December. They may in fact have already been fired or the decision may have already been made to terminate said coaches' contract before then, but it was not made public till after the regular season was over in the month of December.
The only way a coach will be fired during the season currently at Georgia is if he forces the University's hand by pulling a similar stung to what AD Damon Evans did. So, unless Grantham forces Richt or the department's hand, we will have to wait to probably the GT game and sometime in December to know where we stand as far the future at the defensive coordinator position.
Nice sweatsuit BRB!! http://youtu.be/NW28y8yaqyQ
Without giving me a bunch of one liners...can someone explain what ictad stands for...the short version
@Myrtlebeachdawg Ummmmm, its Kentucky vs Mississippi State. I haven't seen anything extra special about the play calling thus far. Some good football though.
@Myrtlebeachdawg Please remember that we're aiming for a 5-0 closeout
@Bulldawg Bob2 Thats depressing. Lets all hope he gets fired sooner than later.
@ecdawg I'm on it boss!
IC Tad is a mythological creature on the order of the Minotaur that leaves destruction in his wake on the gridiron
@Wartown Butch okay one more.
Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?
@GURLEYRULES @Bulldawg Bob2 How is it depressing? It is just the way Georgia has worked for the past 30 plus years in the athletic department following a certain policy, and Georgia isn't the only university or program to do things that way.
The other reason for the Georgia to wait till the end of the year is for monetary reasons because of the way that a lot of coaches' contracts are structured.
And this situation is no where near as depressing and frustrating as when Ray Goff was the head coach at Georgia after Goff wasn't fired in 1994 and was allowed to coach for one more year in 1995.
I haven't posted this because there is no evidence that Mrs. Saban being in Austin is related to anything other than possible real estate investment ( and maybe getting a raise form Bama). She is a licensed RE agent and they just sold an investment property at Lake Burton.
@WVDawg=ICTAD TY Sir
@BrooklynDAWG @Bulldawg Bob2 @Myrtlebeachdawg That was for Myrtlebeach lol. Remember how Livefyre works. It will reply to everybody in that conversation when you make a post. I think there is a way to just reply to the person you want to respond to, but every time I do that, an little red error box pops up telling me I cannot do that.
@Myrtlebeachdawg LOL, i get your point!
@GURLEYRULES I do agree with you. I think that the University has enough money to buy out Gratham's contract if they wanted to let him go right now as well as pay out the rest of it and to go out and hire a new DC. However, I just think the Athletic Department won't make a public announcement till after the season is over.
Keep in mind, Grantham's fate could have already been decided by Richt, the AD, and the boosters, but Grantham, the team, the players, fans, and the rest of public won't be told till after the season is over, probably sometime in December if history is any barometer.
@GURLEYRULES Just go look at the last 30 years of University of Georgia hiring and firings in regards to the football team.
The point of my post was to inform people here that whatever rumors a person might hear should be weighed against what the University has actually done as far as firing coaches over the last 30 to 40 years, even before Richt was a HC here and McGarity was an AD.
It wasn't to defend Grantham or say I'm OK with his performance as a defensive coordinator so far over the last 3.75 years. I really don't see how you got that from my post GURLEYRULES.
Dude. I'm not writing anything positive here. It is what it is. As far as Saban is concerned it depends on his boss the AD at Bama and their athletic department's policy as well that coaches' contract.
Am I happy with Grantham? No! Do I think he should be fired? Yes! Neither you nor I have the power to make that decision, and BTW, whatever Coach Mark Richt wants to do has to be approved by his boss, AD McGarity and be OK'd by the boosters. The same goes for Saban. It isn't whether Richt is putting up with it or not. It is about what the policy of the University of Georgia is which is bigger than you, me, any fan, or the head coach.
@Bulldawg Bob2 @GURLEYRULES UGA has plenty of money to buy out his contract. Bob, you can write all the positive posts in the world but it doesnt change the fact that our defense is poor(actually painfully poor) week in and week out. Grantham needs to go-and the sooner the change is made the better. Do you think Saban would have put up with this garbage week after week-no way.
@WVDawg=ICTAD BTW, this is a true story.....
@PTCDawg How do you get a sweet 80-year-old lady to say the F word?Get another sweet little 80-year-old lady to yell *BINGO*!
@PTCDawg why do we park on the driveway and drive on the parkway
@WVDawg=ICTAD I was suffering from dizzy spells and my brain MRI was returned, marked unremarkable. I was upset until I realized that that was the medical term for A-OK.
