Recruiting: UGA Commits One Step Closer to Dream

image

A few of UGA commits will be playing in their respectable State Final Four’s or State Championships. We are going to take a look back to last Friday Nights games to see how each commit contributed.

Stratford (SC) 36, South Point (SC) 13

Georgia Bulldogs QB commit Jacob Park helped lead his Stratford team to the Class AAAA Division-II State Championship by beating South Point this past Friday Night. Park threw for 268 yards while adding 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. He also added a rushing touchdown.

Stratford will take on the number 1 team in the state of South Carolina, Northwestern (SC), who is 14-0 this coming Friday Night for the State Title.

Tucker (GA) 29, Ware County (GA) 0

The Tucker Tigers advanced to the final 4 by shutting out the Ware County Gators this past Friday Night. Ware County played for the Class 5A Georgia State Championship last season but the Tucker defense made sure that the Gators would not be playing for it this season. The Tucker defense, led by UGA ILB commit Detric Dukes, held Ware County to only 3 first downs the entire game. He recorded 8 Tackles and 2 Tackles For Loss in the victory.

Tucker will host the defending Class 5A State Champions Gainesville on Friday Night. It will be a contest between the states best offense and the states best defense.

American Heritage (FL) 41, Hardee (FL) 7

American Heritage advanced to the Class 5A Florida Final 4 with his 41-7 win over Hardee this past Friday Night. Georgia Bulldogs RB commit Sony Michel put on a show as he carried the ball 18 times for 237 yards and 2 touchdowns. Michel has now gone over 600 yards in the three playoff games and has 6 TD rushes in those contests.

American Hertiage (FL) will take on Lake Whales (FL) next Friday Night with the winner advancing to the State Championship.

Lakewood (FL) 27, South Sumter (FL) 21

South Sumter was 12-0 entering Friday’s game against Lakewood in the Class 5A Florida State Quarterfinals. The Spartans from Lakewood changed that and knocked off South Sumter 27-21 to advanced to the final 4. Lakewood (FL) was down 21-14 entering the 4th Quarter, but the offensive line led by UGA commit Isaiah Wynn started opening up big holes converting two big touchdown drives to pull out the win.

Lakewood (FL) will travel next weekend to Green Cove Springs Clay (FL) with the winner advancing to the State Championship.

Marist (GA) 42, Burke County (GA) 20

Marist High advanced to the final 4 after knocking off Burke County on Friday Night 42-20. Georgia Bulldogs OL/DL commit Kendall Baker has been dominating on the defensive line this season for Marist accounting for 37 Total Tackles, 10 Tackles for Loss, and 1 Sack.

Marist (11-2) will take on Carrollton (12-1) next Friday Night with the winner advancing to the Class 4A Georgia State Championship.

Carrollton (GA) 24, Stockbridge (GA) 14

Carrollton High advanced to the Class 4A Georgia State Semifinals by knocking off Stockbridge this past Friday Night 24-14. The Trojans put on a defensive clinic led by Georgia Bulldogs defensive line commit Dontavius RussellRussell had a big game recording 8 Tackles, 1 Sack, and 1 Interception.

Carrollton (12-1) will take on Marist (11-2) next Friday Night with the winner advancing to the Class 4A Georgia State Championship.

Brooks County (GA) 42, Bowdon (GA) 26

Georgia commit Malkom Parrish took the game in his own hands Friday Night and led his Brooks County team to the Class 2A State Final 4 with a 42-26 win over Bowdon. Parrish is known for his dual-threat ability at the QB position, but that was taken away early in the 1st Quarter when he went down with a knee injury. After sitting out a series, the All-American made his way back on the field and tossed 5 touchdown passes in the win. The severity of the injury is not yet known as he was not able to run like he is capable of, but he torched the Bowdon defense by standing in the pocket being very accurate with the football.

Brooks County (12-1) will take on Lovett (12-1) next Friday Night with the winner advancing to the state championship.
