The first Georgia baseball recruiting class under coach Scott Stricklin earned a No. 19 ranking according to Perfect Game’s Early Top 25 released recently.
Perfect Game USA releases collegiate recruiting rankings before and after the annual Major League Baseball draft. The December ranking gives coaches credit for assembling the class regardless of a decision a prospect makes after the June draft. The Bulldogs were one of eight SEC schools in the early top 25, joining Vanderbilt, Florida, LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Georgia’s 12-member class is headlined by Gainesville High School senior outfielder /pitcher Michael Gettys, who is the top-rated prospect on the Perfect Game Top 100 list. Also Georgia signee Spencer Adams, a senior pitcher at White County High School in Cleveland, Ga., was ranked No. 67 on Perfect Game’s Top 100.
“This is a relatively risk-free recruiting class outside of a couple of players, showcasing a solid recruiting job by coach Scott Stricklin and his staff in their first fall in Athens, Ga.,” wrote Kendall Rogers of Perfect Game USA.
