Lorenzo Carter was one of the most touted defensive players in the entire country. The 5-Star prospect from Norcross High announced on ESPNU today that he would be signing with the Georgia Bulldogs over LSU, Florida State, and Florida.
Georgia seemed to be the clear leader at the start of his process, but the Florida Gators started to gain momentum back towards the summer. Carter and his family built a strong relationship with Will Muschamp and the staff for Florida, but in the end, it wasn’t enough to knock off the in-state Bulldogs.
The 6-6/240 OLB/DE is one of the most athletic players I have personally seen at his size. He has been clocked at a 4.6 forty yard dash and has outstanding burst off the edge. When Carter gets in the weight room hard and adds some upper body strength, he is gonna be fun to watch between the hedges for the next 3-4 years.
Carter finished his senior season at Norcross with 132 tackles, 40 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and 1 forced fumble. In his two-year Varsity career he tallied 268 tackles, 90 tackles for loss, 24 sacks, and 6 forced fumbles.
Carter has a chance to play early and often when he arrives in Athens.
