Seniors Olivia Dorey and McKenzie Lantz have been named as Southeastern Conference Riders of the Month for February in Equitation on the Flat and Reining, respectively. It is the first honor for both Lantz and Dorey this season, giving Georgia a total of five honors on the year.
Dorey went 2-0-1 in the month of February, with each win coming against ranked teams including two top-three teams. She averaged a team-best score of 83.7 on the month, defeating her opponents by an average of 4.7 points. The Sudbury, Mass. native earned her season-high score against No. 3 Auburn when she defeated her opponent with a score of 85, which tied the event-high. Dorey also tied the event-high score against No. 1 South Carolina with an 84.
A native of Fremont, Mich., Lantz went 3-0 in February. She scored an average of 73.5 in the three meets, the highest average of any Georgia reining team member. Lantz picked up MOP honors on two out of three outings for the Bulldogs, bringing her total MVP count on the season to five. She posted her season-best score of 75 against No. 9 Texas A&M. Lantz registered a 74.5 against No.1 South Carolina, which tied the event high while the 71 Lantz scored against No.3 Auburn was the event high.
The Georgia equestrian team will be back in action Friday, March 7 when it hosts No. 6 New Mexico State University at the UGA Equestrian Complex in Bishop, Ga.
