[su_spacer size=”20″] Eighteen Georgia swimmers – the maximum number allowed – are listed on the official NCAA Championships women’s psych sheets released on Wednesday.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The Lady Bulldogs will be vying for their third straight and seventh overall national title March 19-21 in Greensboro, N.C.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Wednesday’s announcement, however, does not mean the Lady Bulldogs’ NCAAs roster is set. Olivia Ball, Darcie O’Brien and Kelly Thatcher will compete Monday through Wednesday in the Zone B Diving Championships. Georgia may add up to two qualifying divers for the NCAAs, but that would mean one swimmer would have to be taken off the list.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia is the only squad in the 63-team field with a full complement of qualified or invited swimmers. Cal and Texas A&M each have 16, followed by Stanford and Indiana each with 12, and Virginia, Florida and Tennessee with 11 apiece.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Fifteen Lady Bulldogs may swim the maximum three individual events at the NCAAs: Hali Flickinger, Lauren Harrington, Maddie Locus, Brittany MacLean, Jordan Mattern, Amber McDermott, Stephanie Peters, Meaghan Raab, Olivia Smoliga, Kylie Stewart, Chantal Van Landeghem, Nicole Vernon, Courtney Weaver, Annie Zhu and Rachel Zilinskas. Emily Cameron, Megan Kingsley and Courtney Peters are entered in two events apiece. A swimmer also may compete on up to four relays at the NCAAs.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia has six seniors, four juniors, three sophomores and five freshmen entered in the national meet.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The Lady Bulldogs won national championships in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2013 and 2014. Georgia won its sixth straight team title at the SECs last month in Auburn, Ala.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The meet selections for the men’s NCAAs will be announced next week.
