[su_spacer size=”20″] Georgia’s spring football practice begins tomorrow with the offense under intense scrutiny. Gone is long time offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. His replacement, Brian Schottenheimer comes to Georgia from the NFL’s St. Louis Rams. Most observers believe that for Georgia to compete for the SEC East championship Schottenheimer must maintain the offensive production that Georgia fans have come to expect from Georgia’s Bobo-led offenses.

 

Granted, there are positions to be filled on defense. However, with the stark improvement in Georgia’s defense under Jeremy Pruitt, it should be safe to assume that the defense will continue to improve.

Offense is another matter altogether. Two positions stand out as targets for spring development – quarterback and center. Each of the 11 positions on offense are important but center is one of the most important. With the departure of veteran David Andrews, Georgia will be breaking in a new center for the first time in what seems like 25 years. The captain of the offensive line must be able to accurately identify defenses and make blocking assignments calls in the second leading up to each snap – then executed his own block. Filling the vacancy left by Andrews is the most important issues facing new offensive line coach Rob Sale.

 

That brings us to quarterback. I’ll leave it for you to debate in comments who will win the quarterback competition. It will be fun to watch Bauta, Park and Ramsey battle it out for the starting position. Most of us have eliminated Bauta and have formed an opinion on Ramsey based on his very limited experience in 2014. Strange things happen when all the players at the table have gone all-in.
