Georgia Softball Set for Midweek Matchup Against USC Upstate


[su_spacer size=”20″] The Georgia softball team is set to begin its final home stand of the season when it welcomes USC Upstate to Jack Turner Stadium in Athens, Ga. The Bulldogs and Spartans will face off on Wednesday, April 15 at 6 p.m. Georgia enters the week with an overall record of 35-10, while USC Upstate owns a record of 34-7 on the year.

SEC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Chelsea Wilkinson has been named the Southeastern Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week. It is the second weekly honor for Wilkinson this season and the fourth of her career. It is the fourth time this season that a Georgia player has been honored by the league office for a weekly award. Wilkinson went 4-0 last week, throwing 23.2 of the 30 innings the Georgia played, while running her recorded to 21-6. She did not give up a run and allowed just seven hits in four games. Among her wins were two complete-game shutouts. She combined to throw one more shutout, throwing six of the seven innings in that game.

Georgia enters this week riding a six-game win streak. The streak started after the Bulldogs won the final two games against Missouri. Georgia then went 4-0 last week extend the streak. The Bulldogs’ longest win streak this season is 11 games.

Georgia has been dominant against its opponents this season, as 20 of its 42 games have been run-rule victories. The 20 run-rule victories are the most by any top-25 or major conference team this season. The Bulldogs have also shut out 18 of its opponents this season, including in three games last week.

Georgia is 24-3 against non-conference opponents this season. The Bulldogs are a sterling 16-1 against non-conference foes at home.
