UGA Softball: Cortni Emanuel Named Freshman of the Year Finalist

[su_spacer size=”20″] Cortni Emanuel has been named to a top-25 finalist for the NFCA National Freshman of the Year.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Emanuel has been a force for the Bulldogs all season. The Texas native leads the team with a .446 batting average and has scored 44 runs this season, good for second most of any Bulldog. Her 62 hits on the year leads the team.
[su_spacer size=”40″] In her freshman campaign, Emanuel has recorded four doubles and a triple, walked six times and has an on-base percentage of .469, batting primarily as the leadoff hitter. She has shown off her blazing speed, racking up 39 stolen bases this season. She has bee caught stealing just three times and is the first Georgia player to steal over 35 bases since 2007.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Emanuel was named the SEC Freshman of the Week during the opening weekend of the season.
[su_spacer size=”40″] On Thurs., May 7, the list will be trimmed down to the top 10 finalists, while the top 3 finalists will be selected and released on Thurs., May 21. In its second year, the NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year trophy will be presented during a live ceremony on May 26 prior to the opening of the annual Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
