WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Angel Robinson To Be Inducted Into Marietta Hall Of Fame


[su_spacer size=”20″] Former Georgia women’s basketball player Angel Robinson will be inducted into the Marietta Athletic Hall of Fame at a ceremony on Friday, Sept. 11 in Marietta, Ga., it was announced on Tuesday.[su_spacer size=”40″] The induction ceremony will take place at Noon ET inside the First United Methodist Church of Marietta. The group of Hall of Famers will then be recognized at halftime of the Marietta High School football game that same evening.
[su_spacer size=”40″] “Angel has always been a great example of what it means to be a Lady Bulldog, and I am excited for her for earning this tremendous honor,” Georgia head coach Joni Taylor said. “From her outstanding career here at Georgia, to playing in the WNBA and overseas, she has always been a great representative for our program. I want to personally congratulate Angel and thank her for being a great ambassador for Georgia basketball.”
[su_spacer size=”40″] Robinson finished her collegiate career in 2010 ranked No. 4 in blocked shots and No. 5 in rebounds among the Lady Bulldogs’ career leaders. She became the program’s 31st 1,000-point scorer during the team’s win over Georgia Tech on Dec. 6, 2009 and ended her career at No. 25 among Georgia’s career scoring leaders. The Marietta, Ga. native was voted to second-team All-SEC by league coaches in 2009, the same season she led the league in rebounding.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Robinson was drafted by Los Angeles Sparks with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2010 WNBA Draft and signed with the Seattle Storm for the 2014 season. She has played overseas in France, Portugal, Spain and Montenegro.
