[su_spacer size=”40″] Bob Kesling, the esteemed and extremely talented voice of the Volunteers, gives us his thoughts on Saturday’s game. Bob succeeded the great John Ward and has carried on Tennessee’s tremendous tradition in grand style. One of the best play-by-play men in the country, Bob has been a regular contributor to the B.I. and we are thankful for his time.

In what areas have you seen the biggest improvement in Tennessee this season?
[su_spacer size=”40″]

The running game and the offensive line. Jalen Hurd has emerged as an All SEC caliber tailback.
The offensive line has taken a big jump. Losing Marcus Jackson in pre-seas was a setback, but Coleman Thomas has really played well at center and Kyler Kyberson has shown leadership and anchored the group at left tackle.

[su_spacer size=”40″] This is yet another huge game between these two teams, how much would a win over Georgia mean to Butch Jones and the program?
[su_spacer size=”40″]

After losing to Oklahoma and Florida, the Georgia game looms large to get Tennessee back in the SEC East race. There were high hopes this could be a break out year for the program. A win over Georgia could keep those hopes going. A loss would be a big step in the wrong direction.

[su_spacer size=”40″] What does Tennessee need to do to win?
[su_spacer size=”40″]

Finish. Tennessee has taken good teams into the 4th quarter and hasn’t finished the job. That is the next step in rebuilding for the Vols.

[su_spacer size=”40″] How do the Tennessee faithful feel about Butch Jones?
[su_spacer size=”40″]

Still firmly behind him. The recruiting has been great, the relationships with the former players has never been better and there is still hope good things are ahead.

[su_spacer size=”40″] What is your take on Georgia?
[su_spacer size=”40″]

Kind of the same old Dawgs. Solid on defense. Love to run the ball and use the play action pass. When the run game is working, Georgia is still very tough to stop.

[su_spacer size=”40″] Who are your picks for the playoff this season?
[su_spacer size=”40″]

Since I missed all four last year, can’t believe you are asking me again to do this. Ohio State has the best roster in college football, but has struggled offensively at quarterback. Still think the Buckeyes are the best team. Notre Dame has a shot, TCU looks good me and whoever wins the SEC and on that I have no clue right now since things have been so scrambled.

[su_spacer size=”40″] Any changes you would like to see for college football and/or around the SEC in the near future?
[su_spacer size=”40″]

Do something to mirror NFL rules. Fans I know get confused about rules because we all watch so much college and NFL football. It would make things easier for all involved if the rules were more uniformed. Eliminate stopping the clock after first downs. They put the rule in several years ago to get more plays in college football. That is not a problem now with the spread attacks. Teams are running 80¬100 plays any way. Games are going too long with too many stoppages. All announcers have the same wish; with all the new space age uniform designs, please just let us have numbers we can read.
