What kind of Dawg fan are you at this point?

Yes the Dawgs won at Auburn and yes the brand of football the team is playing ain’t pretty!

Only a handful of teams are 9-2 and the Dawgs are number 11 in the BCS in a nation with over 100 teams.

The defense continues to struggle and the penalties keep coming.

I’m keeping this blog short and sweet as today represents the first Sunday in two months where I don’t have to work well into the night to put out our next issue, so as the title asks, what kind of Dawg fan are you at this point?

A loyal one who is satisfied with this season? Or a bitter beer-faced one that is tired of seeing the same old mistakes over and over again.

My final observation is I sure wish our team would play a complete football game and earn all the dancing that they sure love to do. However I think celebrating like that should never be allowed on the road. Do what you like in the locker room, but on someone else’s turf a level of sportsmanship should always be observed!

Enjoy your Sunday and enjoy your week off. Try not to be Bitter Bulldawgs. I know it will be hard for many of you and you are certainly justified. I’m afraid 9-3 fits the crime (excessive penalties, constant over pursuit on defense and a coaching staff not willing to admit problems) which means the Bees end Georgia’s awesome streak against Tech comes to an end. Hope I’m wrong!

Well Vance, you know that I am a strong supporter of our beloved Dawgs, and I have taken a couple of extra days to answer your question. I am sick and tired of seeing the same issues not being resolved. Late hits out of bounds, poor tackling, missed assignments and people being out of positon are indicative of poor coaching. I think we are not addressing the problems that have continued to haunt us this season, and I don't understand why. Coach Richt just seems to say "a win is a win" and that's fine, as long as you win them all! But when you don't, then he needs to look at the issues that are causing our troubles. Why can we not generate a pass rush? Why can we not tackle? Why are our defensive backs seemingly always out of position? How are we getting gashed up the middle by several different running attacks, and seem to have no way to stop it? I'm not bitter, but I'm not satisfied either. This team has too much talent to be stuck playing in a second tier bowl game, without a chance to play for an SEC title! I just hope that somehow things can be fixed. I can't stomach losing to the "Bees"! That would make me throw up my Thanksgiving turkey.

I feel your pain and hope Coach Richt will do some real soul searching after the Tech game. The 2009 season begins with bowl preparation. Until then, I'm looking forward to seeing our seniors play their last game in Sanford Stadium. To tie the all time winning streak would be an awesome accomplishment and help sooth some of the wounds of not getting to the Georgia Dome this season.

I'm the kind of fan that thinks getting our doors blown off against the two best teams we face is unacceptable and shouldn't ever happen again. I remember Richt's quote after the '07 Tennessee game where he spoke of the awful feeling he had in his gut because his side wasn't even competitive. Well, it's happened two more times in the same season!! I can't help feel that something is not quite right. If that's the case I trust Richt will do what he has to do. That being said, 10-2 finish in the Top 10 is nothing to sneeze at and will sustain the program's upward trajectory. Question is... How long will Tennessee and Auburn stay down?
