UGA vs. Vandy: Still In It

The Dawgs are currently 2-0 in the SEC East. This time last year we had given up games to South Carolina and Tennessee, all but eliminating our chances of a trip to the Dome in Atlanta. Those two division losses kept us out of the SEC Championship and gave the media enough leverage to elevate Ohio State to number one and drop UGA to number five after being ranked three and four, respectively. In summary, the Dawgs are still in it. With a win today against another division ‘powerhouse’, Vanderbilt, we have a legitimate shot at making our conference championship. Of course the brutal road schedule looms on the horizon, but I’m sure Coach Richt is keeping his players focused on these opportunistic Commodores. Bobby Johnson has prepared his team well so far this season and Vandy’s defense has a knack for taking the ball away. It’s homecoming and it’s the first time both teams have been ranked going into the match-up. The past two years the Dawgs have struggled against the Commodores. Those trips to Baton Rouge and Jacksonville won’t be so fun without a win today against Vandy. GO DAWGS!
