Despite Mark Richt’s incredible 27-4 road game record, the media seems to have dismissed the Dawgs as a legitimate title contender. At this point, I can’t necessarily blame them. Georgia has yet to deliver a statement game even when presented the opportunity a few weeks ago against Alabama. With that said, Coach Richt and the Bulldogs have beat all three of their SEC East foes so far, keeping SEC title hope, and thus national title hopes, alive. In my mind, there are three things that Dawg fans can cling to as we begin our road gauntlet in Baton Rouge.
1) The 1980 team that won the national title had to win six games that were decided by less than 7 points. We haven’t had too many dominant displays so far, but a win is a win.
2) Mark Richt has proven himself on the road and can obviously make adjustments in the second half of the season. I also trust Stacy Searels to do the best with what he has, despite the loss of two left tackles.
3) The computers are wearing Red and Black. According to the BCS computers, Georgia has the most difficult remaining schedule and thus the most opportunity for advancement. We’ll know soon enough if this is a blessing or a curse.
Question: What gives you hope that the Dawgs could pull off an undefeated season on the road? Post it!
