Friday afternoon at the landing...

It’s 6pm and we just got back in from our day at the landing. We saw tons of people we knew there, and lots who have been on the blog. A couple even called us over and said..”are you the guys on the RV trip? we’ve been reading your blog.” It’s funny how much the word has spread on this thing, it’s like the deal they say you are only 6 people removed from anyone.. so maybe we’re famous and don’t know it! Just kidding. Anyway, the chicken wings were great, and the beer was cold. Tons of people were there, and we hung out listening to all the music they had playing on the big system there. This place is just unreal, and if you’ve never been here you need to make the trip at least once to see this to believe it. It’s about the most impressive thing you will ever see as far as hard core partying short of Bourbon Street. We rode the water taxi, which is a boat that brings you from the Jacksonville Landing back to the stadium, which was pretty cool. I wish everyone could be here to see this at least once. We are getting to the point where things are starting to wear on us… and we are starting to feel like we have been on the road way too long ( if you believe that). Not sleeping good is taking it’s toll on all of us. Jared had to sleep on the floor on the cushions that we took off the sleeper sofa, but he didn’t complain. We had the septic system drained, and Mark got filmed on t.v. by channel 12 here in Jacksonville. The reporter asked him how he felt about the “most important person here in RV city”, which is the man who drains your RV’s tanks into the septic truck. On camera, he says, “can you sum it up in a few words?”, and without missing a beat, Mark says “the Sh*tter’s full Clark”. The whole camera crew hit the ground laughing, and say that they are going to bleep it out and put it on air. He says that they will have it on the website at www.firstcoastnews.com so go look for it. When we find it, we’ll post a link. The grill is lit, to cook some chicken, and we’re gonna hang here tonight and see what happens in the lot. The tension is in the air, the Gators and getting cocky and talking smack at the landing. I hope we’ve got some game for them. We’ve had “confirmation” that we will be in all red uniforms for the game on saturday. Not sure if that’s a good thing or not. In the back of my mind I hope that this is just bad info… but we’ll see what happens. The guitar kids are supposed to come back tonight, and if so, I will video it and put it on YouTube if I can get it to load on this wireless card. Hunker down Dawgs… it’s time to get your game faces on. Talk to you in the morning.

Gameday... Let's get it on!

Somehow, we have managed to survive the last few days and find ourselves here on a cool, windy gameday morning. People are beginning to fill up the parking lots, and stir around here in the campground. It looks as if we may have some rain to contend with today, and I’m not sure if that will be a good thing or a bad thing for the Dawgs today. Our own Mark Majors has become a local celebrity here in the lot from the interview on the news yesterday that I told you about. I’ll post a link at the bottom of the page for those of you who didn’t see it yet. I think it’s the hardest we’ve laughed all week. “Pumpdawg” sent us a link that tells about Tebow tweaking his knee in the game against Kentucky last week. It will be interesting to see if that becomes a factor today, especially on a field that may be wet. I don’t want any excuses to have to listen to with the “well if Tebow wasn’t hurt, we’d have won”, so I have mixed emotions about it. I don’t know! All our rowdy friends will be coming over today soon, and this whole deal will be hopping like crazy. I know I am really looking foward to taking a “real” shower and sleeping in my bed at home (and not having Todd stealing my covers), and seeing my boys. We have to “Hunker Down” one more time, and power our way through one more day. I have faith in everyone that we can make it though. I dread all the cleanup and packing everything up, and especially the long drive back to Dalton tomorrow. But let’s not worry about that now, it’s time to watch the Dawgs get it on on the banks of the St.John’s. As Pulpwood said, it still is “The world’s largest outdoor cocktail party”, even if Michael Adams thinks otherwise. Let’s get it on!

It's starting to get busy here now...

It’s now 6pm here, and things are getting a lot more hectic. Finally all the crew is here. Chris and Lisa (our friends from South Ga) came in about and hour ago, after dropping off their RV on Tuesday. Steve flew in this afternoon and is now on “security” detail to keep us all out of trouble, or perhaps get us into trouble depending on his mood. Golf carts are riding all over the lot and loud music is everywhere.. and yes it will be back here at our rig shortly. We have given the neighbors all day to enjoy themselves, and we’re looking forward to this evening. Pulpwood just came out with a new Florida game prognostication, it has R-rated language so be careful if you look at it, but it’s really funny, maybe the best one ever. We’re wondering about the news that Georgia’s gonna be doing something different for this game, and have heard “black helmets, black jerseys” and also “all red”. Anyone who knows anything from the inside scoop, send us a comment. Tonight the sleeping arrangements will be tight, with all 6 of us in here for the first time, and I bet somebody will have a bad deal, but that’s the breaks when you live this “tough life” that we are having to endure. There’s a live band playing in the lot tonight, I think we’ll go check that out in a little bit. We’re starting to get a little more of the “gator bait” comments from the Florida folks, so I think they are coming to life. Tomorrow is the last day we can get out of here with our car, the lot locks down at 5pm, and when that happens you are in until sunday morning. Oh well, it’s been a quiet day here so far, but I’m sure that we’ll have a lot of news for you in the morning. Any of you that are coming down, drop us a line and come over and tailgate with us. Over and out for the night.

Party in the Lot - Thursday night edition

Good morning everyone! Last night was a great time here in the lot. We brought out the “big system” yesterday evening, and our neighbor had a look of concern as we set up the speakers on the stands. We decided to turn them at a 90 degree angle, so the sound was deflected away from her RV. We played music, and Mark and I were able to play our guitars for a couple of hours, with no issues. She actually came over and hung out with some of the people that were standing around listening to the music, and things went very well. Later on that night, she brought her ipod over, and we let her hook it up to our system and play some of her music. That just proves to any of you that know us, that we are really nice and have matured in the last few years. But anyway, the highlight of the evening was when a guy and two young boys came walking up. He was 9 years old, and he could rip the strings off Mark’s stratocaster. He played several Rock songs, but the most amazing thing was he and his brother did “TNT” by AC/DC, one played and the other one sang. It brought down the house! There was a Reporter with a video camera that came up and filmed the whole event. I wish we could tell you how to find it to see it, maybe it will get put on you tube. Check out the picture we posted. Well, today is our traditional trip to Hooters at the Landing for chicken wings and hanging out to listen to the bands play. We always do it on Friday afternoon, and hang out there until all the young kids get there. When it gets too crowded, we’ll come back to the RV lot and play some music here. We’ll get some pictures of the crowd tonight, and hopefully something entertaining will occur again. We’ve gotta get moving and go back for all our supplies for the last time before we get “locked in” this evening. Be back with a post-landing report later on! It’s great to be a Gator Hater down here!

The first day in the lot was a mixed review. First we moved in close to some GA fans who acted like they were a whole lot of fun, but as the day went on we learned the real truth. We got accosted at 8:30 pm, and myself and Mark Majors (flew in today) were told we couldn’t play our guitars, and that they wouldn’t listen to music past 11pm (which the police told us was not an enforceable curfew). Our neigbor told us she “was sick and really didn’t want to be here anyway, but wasn’t listening to us or the Florida Bus that pulled in next to her. Seems like a little bit of a delima here. I think she’s in for a long week end if you ask me. THe cops said that noise ordinace only gets into effect at 1am, so we can play “25 guitars up to 1am if we want, and she can’t say anything about it. It just sucks, because we don’t want to make anyone mad, but yet this is a party lot, so what do we do. I’m going to put it into the cops hands and not get further involved, and told us that she really should leave. Oh, well, we are hanging in there for the night, and eithere she or I will be in a new place in the morning. We refuse to give in, and took our radio ourside after getting the blessing of the police tonight, just to add some salt in the wound. Do you think we should move, or just stay here and tell here what the police said… that we can be AS LOUD as we want until 1am. If we do this it is just to prove a point, but somehow if we leave we feel as if we have “given in”. Let us know what you think we should do….
