Georgia-Auburn Preview

Georgia hasn’t beaten Auburn in three consecutive seasons since the Herschel Walker era, when the Bulldogs downed the Tigers to clinch Southeastern Conference championships in 1980, 1981 and 1982. The opportunity is there for the Bulldogs, who beat Auburn 37-15 on the plains in 2006 and won 45-20 last season in Athens. Mark Richt’s team is trying to improve its record to 9-2 on the season. Tommy Tuberville’s Tigers, the consensus preseason favorite to win the league’s West Division, are a disappointing 5-5, with a slew of close losses. With the old rivals Georgia and Alabama remaining, Auburn can still make its mark and play spoiler to the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide.
