GEORGIA vs AUBURN SOFTBALL
LAST TIME OUT: GEORGIA STATE
Freshman Kylie Bass tossed a two-hit shutout on Wednesday, as Georgia took an 8-0 victory in five innings over Georgia State. Bass finished the night holding Georgia State to five runners left on base, as three reached on walk. The Georgia native also tallied a pair of strikeouts against the Panthers.
Four Bulldogs went perfect at the plate with Sydni Emanuel, Alyssa DiCarlo, Cortni Emanuel and Lacey Sumerlin. The night was highlighted with Tina Iosefa hitting her third grand slam of the year, helping Georgia record 13 hits on the night.
IOSEFA WITH THIRD GRAND SLAM OF THE SEASON
Iosefa continues to use the long ball to her advantage, as she sent out the third grand slam of the season–and of her career–against Georgia State on Wednesday. The senior is tied with Texas A&M’s Breanna Dozier with the most grand slams this year in the league. With her four RBI against the Panthers, it also marked the 50th multi-RBI game of her career, as she leads the Bulldogs with 17 this season.
GEORGIA LEADING THE WAY IN NATIONAL TEAM STATS
Wednesday’s game showed the balance from pitching to offense that the Bulldogs hold this season. It is also evident in where the team ranks in the national statistics. After Wednesday’s games, the Bulldogs are first in the nation with a .369 batting average, as the Emanuel sisters are both in the top 20 nationally. Georgia is also in the top 15 with a .450 on-base percentage, .554 slugging percentage, 7.19 runs per game, .787 win-loss percentage and 2.07 ERA.
