Georgia clinched their first SEC series of the season on Monday night after they defeated Kentucky 3-1. The Bulldogs won the series 2-1. Georgia’s defense proved to be solid not allowing a baserunner past second until the sixth inning. Smart base running is the game, and is how Georgia capitalized on several opportunities and defeated the Wildcats
The Bulldogs capitalized on four Kentucky mistakes. Only one of the runs scored by Georgia off of Meagan Prince was earned. Georgia recorded seven hits with six coming from the top of the lineup. Cortni Emanuel and Sydni Emanuel each notched two hits. Alyssa DiCarlo followed with a hit and Lacey Sumerlin also recorded a hit. Sumerlin also walked three times during the game.

Georgia scored its first point of the night off of two errors the Wildcats committed in the first inning. S. Emanuel scored on an error after reaching on an error. The Bulldogs went up 2-0 in the second as S. Emanuel forced another Kentucky mistake, allowing C. Emanuel to run home on a two-base error.
S. Emanuel scored another run in the fourth, as DiCarlo notched a RBI double to right field. DiCarlo’s RBI double clinched the Bulldog’s lead. The Bulldog’s defense was on point and didn’t allow much throughout the entire game. After losing game one of the series, Georgia seemed to get back to what has worked for them this season and remained calm, cool, and confident to seal two consecutive wins.
