The University of Georgia equestrian team concludes regular season Southeastern Conference competition this week as they host Auburn. The matchup is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. The No. 2 ranked Bulldogs enter the meet with a 7-1 (4-1 SEC) record against the No. 1 Tigers who are 6-1 (3-1 SEC).
“What an incredible couple weeks this has been, competing against fantastic SEC rivals,” Georgia head coach Meghan Boenig said. “This weekend will be no different against Auburn. However, I think we’re at the perfect prep coming off of these great rides with a lot of confidence built and very few errors. We need to continue that progression both this weekend and heading into the postseason. Our focus is on being willing to push scores, being consistent, and showing that off against Auburn.”
Georgia’s lone blemish on their record this season came after an 11-8 loss to the Tigers in Auburn, Ala. on Nov. 13. The loss caused the Bulldogs to move down a peg in the NCEA Coach’s Poll, which is where they have remained.
Last season Georgia went 4-0 against Auburn, including two during the regular season and two in the postseason.
This meet will be the final SEC matchup for Georgia until the postseason when the team hosts the SEC Championship on March 25-26 in Bishop, Ga. Kansas State, Fresno State, and New Mexico State remain on the schedule for the Bulldogs.
Live scoring for the meet will be available on georgiadogs.com.
