With just eleven days until kickoff, the Georgia Bulldogs were in full practice mode on Tuesday. Although the weather wasn’t quite as hot, it was still in the upper 80s.

Here are some of my notes from practice:

DEFENSE

Student Assistant Jarvis Jones was working with the outside linebackers during position drills. The linebackers were working on two and three-point stances, and exploding off the ball. Jones was having them focus on exploding off the ball, run a corner around a cone, and then grab a tennis ball.

Azeez Olujari (13), Jermaine Johnson (11) and Adam Anderson (19) were the first three in the rotation during the drill. Olujari was the most impressive followed by Anderson. Johnson had a false start. Walter Grant (84) also participated in the drill. Grant had a false start as well.

I did not see Nakobe Dean (17) during the limited media viewing period with the inside linebackers. He was also absent from Saturday’s scrimmage.

The defensive line was hitting the dummies. Veteran and senior Tyler Clark (52) was first up followed by true freshman Travon Walker (44).

OFFENSE

The quarterbacks were working on play-action passes. The wide receivers were as follows: Tyler Simmons (87) was taking first-team reps so was Matt Landers (5), and Lawrence Cager (15) along with George Pickens (1) then followed during drills.

Tight ends worked on ball drills with Coach Todd Hartley. He passed the ball to them on an out route, and then they hit through two dummies, hurdling the last. The order of the rotation was Charlie Woerner (89), John Fitzpatrick (86), and then Eli Wolf (17). Of note, tight end Ryland Goede (88) was still wearing a club on his right hand. He managed to haul in a pass, which drew praise from coach Hartley.

The Bulldogs are transitioning from Fall Camp to preparation for their season-opening game versus Vanderbilt on the road in Nashville, TN on August 31st, which is a week from this upcoming Saturday. The team will practice the rest of this week through Saturday before their game-week schedule begins.
