UGA is in the process of rebuilding and reshaping its offensive line under a third coach in three years. Sam Pittman wants bigger linemen and to have more of them on scholarship.
Kirby Smart was reluctant to offer praise to anyone as a standout during a recent offensive line update but mentioned Sam Madden (6-6/346), Kendall Baker (6-6/310), and Aulden Bynum as second-unit notables.
Ben Cleveland (6-6/345), a 17-year-old early-enrollee freshman from Toccoa, is easy to spot on the practice field. Smart said that Cleveland regressed a bit from the first scrimmage to the second, “but,” said Kirby, “this guy should be in high school right now. He’s got to play with a little more physical toughness and get some movement. He competes. Out there today, he made a mistake and he told everybody it was his bad – he’s growing up.”

In recent months, Georgia has begun beefing up the number of players by signing in-state lineman with the physical characteristics to bee trained by Pittman. UGA has used the state’s HOPE scholarship program and signed young men as preferred walk-ons.
