In his presser after last Saturday’s scrimmage, Kirby Smart described the attitude of his coaching staff when discussing playing time with their charges – “You put it on tape, we’ll put you in.” Of course, that is just another way of stating the old coaching adage, you play like you practice.

Fans are fond of anecdotes about players who loafed through practices but turned in stellar performances when the lights came on, however, coaches are rarely willing to stake their careers on the performance of those players. “You put it on tape, we’ll put you in” is the mantra.
