School/Degree: Ph.D. Health Promotion and Behavior, College of Public Health.

Profession: I research and provide consultation on solutions used to prevent chronic disease, promote health, and advance equity in populations.

I have received an Outstanding Georgia Citizen award from the Georgia Secretary of State and I have been recognized as one of the UGA Alumni Association’s 40 Under 40. I have received two CDC/ATSDR Honor Awards for Excellence in Information Technology and Emergency Response and a Presidential Service Award for philanthropy.

Describe Athens in five words or less: The little big city.

Restaurants and bars: The breakfast cuisine at Mama Boy’s restaurant is so divine. I’ve also enjoyed visiting Creature Comforts with friends.

Shops: Agora Vintage.

Athens/campus landmark:

The Dawg sculptures around town. It’s my goal to find and take a picture with each one.

Memory while in school: Friday nights at Carrabas with my cohort and successfully completing my doctoral defense. I remember texting my best friend, “I’m Ph.inisheD!!”

Professor/class: Narrative Methodology with Dr. Juanita Johnson-Bailey. She served on my doctoral committee and is hands down one of UGA’s greats. I am forever thankful to her for teaching and empowering me to center women’s voices through storytelling.

Gameday ritual/plan: Cute red and black outfit, jewelry, and handbag? Check!
