What life lessons did you learn while at UGA?

“Networking is the most valuable skill in life. It truly is who you know…”

What professor did you most admire (and why)?

“David Hazinski. He has intimidated generations of journalism students. However, we all later realized it was his passion for his work and our success which motivated him. I tackled my first job with ease because of the expert instruction of Hazinski, Michael Castengera, and Steve Smith.”

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

“Using my role as a journalist to help a WWII veteran receive his Purple Heart only weeks before his death from cancer.”

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

“She’s not historical, but I cannot help but think of Oprah Winfrey in times of struggle or adversity. Her life, even into adulthood, was marked by so many massive challenges and obstacles which would’ve led most people to give up. However, the perseverance she demonstrated time after time should be an example to us all.”

Who are your heroes in real life?

“My grandfather, Dean Ellington, was a man who was admired by everyone he encountered in his life. His respect for others and thoughtfulness through difficult decisions made a permanent impact on how I approach life.”

Quote to live by:

“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” -T.S. Eliot

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

“? Learning to embrace every moment and express gratitude throughout my life.”

What is your most marked characteristic?

“My high-energy, quickwitted personality. I’ve never been described as shy!”

What do you most value in your friends?

“A big heart and an embrace of fun.”

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

“I would love to be tan. It’s tough not being able to tan easily when you live in sunny Southern California.”

Who are your favorite writers (and why)?

“I love Malcolm Gladwell’s books.
I almost exclusively read non-fiction, and I’m fascinated by the topics of human traits which he explores.”

Fave social media and who to follow (and why)?

“Personally, I’m a big fan of Instagram (@ChaseCain), but I also try to embrace Twitter (@ChaseCainTV). Currently, my favorite person to follow on social media is California Congresswoman Maxine Waters (@ MaxineWaters). I love her willingness to say what most people are too afraid to say.”
