The Dawgs host Nicholls State on Saturday, and here are some Colonels to Watch.

TUSKANI FIGARO (QB, # 8)

Dawgs’ defense needs to hunker down against this guy. The senior quarterback started the first nine games last season before missing the rest of the season with an injury and threw for 925 yards and four touchdowns. Figaro (6-3, 220) is also the Colonels’ leading returning rusher after running for 456 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 4.9 yards per carry and 50.7 yards per game. He enters 2016 ranked 10th on the program’s all-time rushing list with 1,767 yards and is one 100-yard rushing game from tying the program’s career record (8 by Josh Son, 2000-03). Will that come against the Bulldogs?

C.J. BATES (WR, # 2)

And when Figaro does take to the air, the Georgia secondary had better account for this senior wideout. Playing in 10 games in his first season with the Colonels, Bates led the offense with 28 receptions for 395 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 14.1 yards per catch and 39.5 yards per game. Bates put up a career night against Central Arkansas, hauling in 11 receptions for 112 yards and two touchdowns, his 11 catches tying the program’s single-game record.

HEZEKIAH WHITE (LB, # 58)

The Bulldogs’ offensive linemen will certainly need to get a hat on this guy. White was named All-Southland honorable mention as a redshirt freshman last season when he started all 11 games at linebacker. White led the team in tackles (96) and tackles-for-loss (9.5) and was named Nicholls State’s defensive player of the year.
