The targeting rule will continue to have a significant impact on SEC football in 2016. In his talk at SEC Media Days, Steve Shaw, SEC Director of Officials, explained all of the coming changes, including allowing replay officials to stop the game and create a targeting foul that may have been missed by the on-field crew.
 
 

Now, the replay official can create a targeting foul from the booth – it has to be an egregious situation.
