“The sleeper recruit does not exist anymore”

James Franklin (Penn State), Bret Bielema (Arkansas) and Eastern Michigan head coach Chris Creighton spoke to student-athletes and parents about recruiting recently.

“The way social media is now, we know the people we need to get in contact with in each state and each area that’s going to help us. A lot of us have had the same people recruiting places forever. I walk in this room and see coaches from all over the country that I’ve known for the last 20 years.

“The sleeper recruit does not exist anymore. It doesn’t matter your star rankings, where you’re at, you’ll be found. If you have a school that love, go to their camp. But like anything, you should have an A list of dream schools you’d love to go to, a B list of schools that you think actually fit your son, and you should have some C fallback schools because the reality is the C fallback schools for most kids are probably a dream school. As parents, you’re all biased. You think your sons are the best. Probably not.”
