Teams will wrap up their regular season schedule for the 2017 Georgia High School football season this week. In some contests, region titles are on the line as well as those coveted No. 1 and No. 2 playoff seedings. Murray and I run down week 12 of the Georgia High School Football Report and get you ready for the GHSA playoffs.

There are some big region games this weekend around the Peach State:

(Note: Unless otherwise noted, if a team is ranked, the state composite rankings are used)

CLASS 7A – REGION 3

No. 10, (7-2) McEachern at UNR, (6-3) Hillgrove

WHEN: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3rd
LOCATION: Cobb Energy Hillgrove Stadium, Powder Springs, GA

No. 10 McEachern is 4-0 in region 3 in Class 7A but have to beat (6-3) Hill Grove to claim the region title. Hillgrove can claim the region championship if they knockoff McEachern, and if they do, McEachern would be the No. 2 seed in the playoffs. If Hillgrove loses, things get a little more complicated. If North Paulidng beats Marietta, then they would claim the No. 2 seed but would fall to No. 3 if Marietta wins.

CLASS 7A – REGION 4

UNR, (6-3) Woodstock at No. 3, (9-0) Walton

WHEN: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3rd
LOCATION: Raider Valley, Marietta. GA

Can (6-3) pull off the upset on the road over the No. 3 team in Class 7A, undefeated Walton? If they do so, they will be crowned the region champion and it would be Woodstock’s first. Walton is looking for its first region title since 2011, the year they reached the GHSA finals.

CLASS 6A – REGION 1

No. 2, (6-2) Coffee at No. 4, (8-1) Lee County

WHEN: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3rd
LOCATION: Trojan Field, Leesburg, GA

If Coffee loses, they will be the No. 2 seed, but if Lee County loses, they also need Houston Co. to beat Valdosta to be the No. 2 seed. If Valdosta beats Houston Co., then Lee Co. falls to the No. 4 seed based on the point-differential tiebreaker.

CLASS 6A – REGION 4

No. 9, (7-2) Stephenson at No. 3, (8-1) Tucker

WHEN: 8:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3rd
LOCATION: James R. Hallford Stadium, Clarkston. GA

Two Class 6A teams undefeated in Region 4 play will face other on Friday night at 8 p.m. to decide the region champion and No. 1 seed. No. 9, (7-2) Stephenson will travel to Clarkston, GA to take on power house No. 6, (8-1) Tucker.

CLASS 5A – REGION 1

No. 8, (7-2) Bainbridge at No. 4 (9-0) Warner Robins

WHEN: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3rd
LOCATION: McConnell-Talbert Stadium, Warner Robins, GA

The title in Region 1 of Class 5A comes down to No. 8, (7-2) Bainbridge at No. 4 (9-0) Warner Robins on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are 3-0 in region play, and the WR Demons are led by the younger brother of Jake Fromm, Dylan, at QB who likes to throw to his twin Tyler at TE/WR. Warner Robins is seeking their first 10-0 undefeated regular season since 2000.

CLASS 5A – REGION 8

No. 2, (7-1) Buford at No. 10, (8-1) Flowery Branch

WHEN: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3rd
LOCATION: Falcon Field, Flowery Branch, GA

Another region championship up for grabs on Friday night is in Region 8 in Class 5A between (7-1), No. 2 Buford at (8-1), No. 10 Flowery Branch. Both these teams are 5-0 in region play. Story lines in this one, Buford is undefeated in region play since 2009 while Flowery Branch is looking for its first region title in five years since 2012.

CLASS 4A – REGION 5

No. 1, (9-0) Cartersville at No. 9, (8-1) Troup County

WHEN: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3rd
LOCATION: Callaway Stadium, Lagrange, GA

Cartersville is the No. 1 team in Class AAAA in Georgia and is expected to claim the region 5 title and No. 1 seed in the playoffs, but to do so, they will have to defeat a good (8-1) and top-ten Troup County team on the road in Lagrange, GA. If Troup pulls off the upset, there could be a three-way tie. If that happens, though, Cartersville should hold the tie breaker if they go by offensive points differential.

No. 2, (8-1) Greather Atlanta Christian at No. 15, (7-2) Dawson County

WHEN: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3rd

A huge matchup on Friday night between two undefeated Class A Private teams and rivals to decide the region 8-A title between No. 2 Prince Avenue Christian and No. 3 Athens Academy. Prince Avenue is looking fo their fifth consecutive title and won last year 28-0.
