UGA shortstop Cam Sheppard was recently listed among the nation’s top 50 sophomore prospects by Baseball America at number 21. His team, right-handed pitcher Tony Locey, came in at number 42.

2017 (Freshman):
Started all 57 games at shortstop as team went 25-32 and advanced to the SEC Tournament
*Earned an invitation to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp
*Named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball and Freshman All-SEC by the league coaches
*Hit .307 with a team-leading 16 doubles, two triples, five home runs and 28 RBI overall plus hit .310-2-11 in SEC action
*Posted a team-high 74 hits and 21 multiple-hit games, longest hitting streak of the season was 11 games and ended the year with a five-game streak
*Tallied a .953 Fielding Percentage in 277 total chances and played error-free over the final 21 games of the season
*Named SEC Freshman oft the Week (April 3) after batting .526 (10-for-19) with three doubles, one triple and four RBI in helping squad claim road series over UT
*Batted .500 in SEC debut series at No. 6 LSU, hit .364-2-2 in Vanderbilt series and .462 in road series win over No. 30 USC
*Blasted an 8th-inning home run to defeat Vanderbilt 1-0 on April 22 as team had one hit up to that point, also turned key double play with leaping catch with runners at the corners and nobody out
*Collected seven assists in 7-5 road win over Ga. Tech on April 25 to clinch season series
*Recorded a six RBI game as part of a four-hit day versus Xavier on March 7
*Named to the J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Honor Roll

2017 (Freshman):
Appeared in 16 games with eight starts and eight relief appearances for a total of 42.1 innings as team went 25-32 and advanced to the SEC Tournament
*Posted a 2-4 record, 6.38 ERA with 37 strikeouts and 31 walks
*Earned first career win with a 7-0 combined shutout at Ga. Southern, going five innings with six strikeouts on Feb. 25
*Part of 2-0 combined shutout of UAB, going six scoreless with six strikeouts on March 4
*Losses came to College of Charleston, Rider, at No. 6 LSU and No. 30 South Carolina
*No decision in a start versus No. 16 Auburn on March 25, went 3.2 innings and allowed just one run but high pitch count
*Made first relief appearance in the Tennessee series in April, going 1.2 scoreless innings with four walks and two strikeouts
*Pitched one scoreless inning of relief at SunTrust Park versus Missouri on April 8 in front of a crowd of 33,025, the second largest in college baseball history
*Sharp in relief outing at No. 4 Kentucky on May 6, going three innings and allowing one run with four strikeouts
*No decision in a start with a pitch count versus Ga. Tech at SunTrust Park in front of a crowd of 23,737 on May 8, tossed four scoreless frames with four strikeouts
