BASEBALL: Georgia Junior Stephen Wrenn Named to Preseason All-American Team

[su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia junior Stephen Wrenn, a outfielder for the Bulldogs’ baseball team, has been named to the D1Baseball.com Preseason All-American Team released on Monday.

[su_spacer size=”40″] Wrenn, a 6-2, 185-pound native of Marietta, Ga., was selected a second-team outfielder. Also, he was listed No. 27 on the site’s “College 300” for the top prospects in college baseball. Bulldog teammate Robert Tyler, a 6-4, 226-pound right-handed pitcher from Cordele, Ga., checked in at No. 16 on D1Baseball.com’s College 300.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Wrenn earned the Gordon Beckham MVP Award for the Bulldogs in 2015. He started all 54 games in center field and led the team in batting average (.324), hits (72), home runs (8) and stolen bases (28) plus tallied 151 putouts and three assists.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia will resume preparations for the 2016 season with full squad workouts on Jan. 31. Georgia’s annual First Pitch Banquet will be Thursday, Feb. 11 and feature Atlanta Braves legend Chipper Jones.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Scott Stricklin’s Bulldogs open the season on Feb. 19 as they play host to Georgia Southern in a three-game series at Foley Field.
