Fifth-ranked Georgia faces No. 24 Clemson Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Foley Field, and it will be televised by the SEC Network and broadcast on the Georgia Bulldog Sports Network.

Georgia (29-8) will be playing the Tigers (25-11) for the second time this season. The Bulldogs won the first meeting this year in Clemson, 5-3 on April 2. Junior right-hander Tim Elliott (5-1, 1.30 ERA) will be making his eighth start of the year including second against the Tigers. He went a career-high 7.1 innings to earn a win in the first game against Clemson this year. Most recently, he beat No. 17 Ga. Tech 12-2 on April 9, going seven innings with six strikeouts. The Tigers will counter with junior left-hander Jacob Hennessy (3-0, 4.00 ERA). This past weekend, Georgia dropped an SEC road series to Tennessee while the Tigers were swept by Florida State in Tallahassee. Georgia salvaged the final game of the series against the Volunteers, registering a 7-1 win to snap its first two-game losing streak of the year.

Dating back to 1900, Georgia leads the all-time series with Clemson 121-107-2. The Bulldogs will be aiming for their second straight sweep of the Tigers. Georgia won both meetings in 2018.

The Bulldogs, who share the SEC lead with No. 2 Miss. State with a 10-5 league mark, are enjoying their best season since 2009 when that club was 30-7 after 37 games. Georgia will play three of its final five SEC series at home, starting with No. 21 Missouri (25-12-1, 7-7-1 SEC) Thursday on ESPNU. Last week, Missouri won a series over No. 8 LSU 2-1 in Columbia to earn a spot in the top 25 rankings.

Georgia is winning with pitching, defense and timely hitting. The Bulldogs own a 2.78 ERA (1st in SEC & 4th in NCAA) and a .981 fielding percentage (3rd in NCAA) and those are on pace to be school records. Georgia’s record for lowest ERA in a season is 2.97 by the 1958 club and the next best is 3.26 by the 1967 squad. Last year, the Bulldogs set a fielding record at .979. Georgia is batting .273 with a .382 OB%.

Senior 2B LJ Talley continues to lead the team and 9th in the SEC in batting at .358-5-25. Junior CF Tucker Maxwell leads the club with seven home runs and ranks third in the SEC in stolen bases with a team best 17. Georgia’s RBI leader with 33 is sophomore OF Riley King (.307-5-33). Junior returning All-American Aaron Schunk, one of the nation’s top two-way talents and finalist for the John Olerud Award in 2018, ranks among the NCAA leaders with 10 saves while batting .336-6-28 in 37 starts at third base.  He was Georgia’s leading hitter in the UT series, batting .462 (6-for-13) with a home run and two RBI. He did not pitch in the UT series.  Currently, he has a seven-game hitting streak.
