Bulldogs Glide Past Panthers

The 16th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Georgia State Panthers 16-1 at Foley Field in Athens, Georgia.

Georgia was able to convert 15 runs on 16 hits. Chaney Rogers led the Dawgs going 3-for-3 at the plate.
“Ben Anderson set the tone for us tonight. The momentum shifted in a hurry and I thought we had some really good at bats throughout the night,” said head coach Scott Stricklin.

The Dawgs went through eight pitchers during the game. Chandler Marsh stayed in for 2.1 innings and notched the win for Georgia.

 

 

 

 

The Bulldogs struck first early and often. Ben Anderson set the momentum for the Dawgs with a leadoff home run. This home run made for Anderson’s seventh of the season.

Georgia added on four more runs in the second innings. Cole Wagner plated a run with an RBI single to center field. Garrett Blaylock plated another Dawg with a sacrifice fly. Cory Acton and Connor Tate also had RBI singles to center field for two runs.

In the fifth inning the Dawgs plated seven runs. Blaylock’s single to left field plated two more runs for the Bulldogs. Chaney Rogers then sent one to the moon for a three-run homer. Anderson scored on an error and Parks Harber plated another run shortly after with an RBI double to give Georgia the 12-0 lead.

In the seventh inning Georgia State plated a run on a wild pitch. In the bottom of the inning, Harber sent one deep for a solo shot to right field. In the eighth, Georgia was able to cash in three more on an RBI double from Blaylock, a sacrifice fly from Buddy Floyd and a wild pitch.

Georgia will be back in action Friday on the road against LSU. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
