Georgia Defeats Kennesaw State and Sweeps Series

The 16th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs beat the Kennesaw State Owls 10-7 Tuesday evening at Foley Field in Athens, Georgia. There were 2,909 spectators in the stands.

Georgia salvaged 10 runs off of 11 hits. Parks Harber led the Dawgs going 3 for 5 on the night. Cole Wagner was not far behind going 2 for 4. Garrett Blaylock led Georgia with a career-high four RBI performance for the Dawgs.





“When you have a big series like we do coming up, you want momentum,” said head coach Scott Stricklin.
Max DeJong notched the win for Georgia and went two scoreless innings. This marked DeJong’s first career win.

Throughout the evening, Georgia went through nine pitchers. Jack Gowen closed for the Dawgs and earned his 10th save.

The Dawgs struck first from a two-run single off of Connor Tate. Kennesaw State plated three runs in the top of the second and another four runs in the top of the third. The Owls had a 7-2 on the Dawgs. In the bottom of the inning an RBI single from Wagner plated a run for the Dawgs. In the fifth Blaylock hit an incredible double that plated three Bulldogs to cut KSU’s lead to 7-6.

A single from Harber in the sixth plated a run to tie the game at seven. A bases loaded sacrifice fly from Wagner gave the Dawgs an 8-7 lead. A hit by pitch with bases loaded plated another Bulldog to extend their lead to 9-7. In the eighth Corey Collins hit a solo home run to the moon to put Georgia on top 10-7.
Georgia will be back in action against Vanderbilt on Friday at Foley Field. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m
