Georgia vs Georgia Tech Baseball – The Bulldogs, with a (17-16) record, continue a 22-game stretch against ranked opponents by traveling to Atlanta, GA to take on the 27th-ranked Yellow Jackets (23-8) for a Tuesday tilt at 6 PM ET.

On Friday, the Bulldogs play host to red-hot No. 2 South Carolina (28-5, 10-2 SEC) in an SEC series at Foley Field. The Bulldogs are 3-7 against ranked teams this year. Georgia is batting .252 with an ERA of 4.62 and fielding .967. In SEC action, the Bulldogs are hitting .272 with a 6.48 ERA and fielding .958. Against Tech, Georgia will start junior LHP Andrew Gist (2-1, 3.45 ERA), and it will be his fourth start this year.

Bulldog junior C/OF Skyler Weber is batting a team-best .326-1-19 and his 47 hits puts him among the SEC leaders. Sophomore left fielder Keegan McGovern, who has started all 33 games this season, saw his on base streak end at a team-high 23 games after going 0-for-3 Sunday against No. 3 Texas A&M (25-7, 7-5 SEC). McGovern ranks among the SEC leaders in walks with 29 and is batting .267-5-24. Georgia slugged a pair of home runs Sunday against the Aggies, getting them from senior shortstop Nick King (.260-1-9) and junior centerfielder Stephen Wrenn (.278-2-16). Georgia has hit 23 home runs on the year and the last 14 have been solo shots. In SEC action, King is batting a team-high .357. On the mound, Georgia is led by junior RHP Robert Tyler (3-2, 2.78 ERA). The SEC rotation last weekend featured Tyler, junior LHP Connor Jones (4-2, 5.73 ERA) and sophomore LHP Bo Tucker (3-3, 3.14 ERA).

Dating back to 1950, Georgia leads the all-time series with Tech 116-101. Georgia is 2-3 against Tech under coach Scott Stricklin, who played collegiately at Kent State under Danny Hall, who is the current Tech coach. Last year, the Tech game at Russ Chandler Stadium was rained out while the Foley Field contest ended in a 13-6 win for the visitors. Georgia posted a combined one-hit shutout of Tech in the game at Turner Field, winning 6-0 to split the season series.

The two teams will meet in Athens on April 26th and at Turner Field to benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta on May 17. Tech is 16-3 at home this year. Tuesday’s game will be available on ESPN3. Recently, Tech split a two-game set with ACC foe Pittsburgh with one game cancelled. Tech is batting .311 as a team with a 3.93 ERA and .970 fielding percentage. Offensively, they are led by SS Connor Justus (.395-2-21), OF Matt Gonzalez (.381-5-26) and OF Kel Johnson (.325-8-30). Senior RHP Cole Pitts (3-1, 5.59 ERA) will start Tuesday.
