MEN’S BASKETBALL: J.J. Frazier and Yante Maten Named 2nd Team All-SEC

Georgia’s J.J. Frazier and Yante Maten have been selected as second-team All-SEC performers by league coaches. The SEC’s awards were announced on Tuesday by the league office in Birmingham, Alabama.
 
 
Frazier is a 5-10, 155-pound junior from Glennville, Georgia. He leads the Bulldogs in scoring at 16.4 ppg and assists at 4.3 apg. Frazier ranks among the SEC top-10 statistical leaders in a league-high eight different categories – No. 5 in assist-to-TO ratio (2.7), No. 6 in 3-point percentage (.404), No. 6 in steals (1.5), No. 7 in scoring (16.4), No. 8 in free throw percentage (.808), No. 8 in 3-pointers per game (2.4), No. 10 in assists (4.3) and No. 10 in minutes (31.9). Frazier has 22 double-figure scoring games, including a team-best 10 20-point performances.
 
 
Maten is a 6-8, 240-pound sophomore from Pontiac, Michigan, who is averaging 15.9 ppg and a team-high 8.0 rpg for Georgia this season. Maten is the only player who is currently ranked among the SEC individual leaders in scoring (No. 11), rebounding (No. 6), field goal percentage (No. 5) and free throw percentage (No. 10). He has recorded team highs of 25 double-digit scoring performances, nine double-figure rebounding efforts and eight double-doubles.
