Georgia Lady Bulldogs head coach Joni Taylor announced the transfer of former five-star guard Taja Cole from Louisville. Cole will have to sit out the 2016-17 season and will have three seasons to play beginning in 2017-18.

Coach Taylor remarked:

We are excited to have Taja joining our program. She is someone who has the ability to make an immediate impact on our team. She was one of the best players in the nation coming out of high school last year, and I look forward to seeing great things from her. Taja is a dynamic player who has tremendous athletic ability. Once again, we wanted players in this class who would come in and fit well into our system, and Taja does just that.

Cole told her hometown paper:

“The decision was very difficult,” said Cole, who had no idea where she wanted to go when she initially made the announcement she was transferring. “I learned a lot at Louisville and a lot about the game of basketball.

“The first experience I had didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to turn out, and even though I am still a team player, I thought I had to be selfish about my decision.”

“Georgia kept it real. They didn’t roll out the red carpet, and Coach Joni (Taylor) is down to earth,” Cole said.
“I just get that feeling and had that feeling.

“I was looking for a program where I have a great relationship with the head coach and somewhere where I can just play my game.
