Freshman Caliya Robinson scored a career-high 19 points leading the Georgia Lady Bulldogs to their fifth-straight Southeastern Conference win with a, 58-47, victory against LSU Sunday afternoon. The win marks Georgia’s first in Baton Rouge since 2001.

With the win Georgia (19-6, 7-5) now holds a 24-20 all-time record against the Tigers (8-17, 2-10). The victory gives Georgia its first string of five straight conference victories since the 2010-11 season.

Robinson added 11 rebounds and four blocks to go along with her career-high points. She was joined in double-digit scoring by Shacobia Barbee, with 14 points.

“LSU is a really good team,” head coach Joni Taylor said. “Give credit to them. They play with such effort and they work so hard and do a great job defensively. We knew that it was going to be tough here. We hadn’t won here since 2001 and there was a reason why. They are really tough to beat in this arena. Credit our players because we told them to be ready and it would be an all hands on deck kind of game. We were fortunate to come out of here with a win today.”

Barbee and Tiaria Griffin drilled three-point baskets in the first three minutes of the first quarter to give the Lady Bulldogs a 6-2 lead. Pachis Roberts drilled a three-pointer of her own soon after, but the Tigers quickly answered with a basket down low following two offensive rebounds. Georgia answered with another Lady Bulldog scoring her first bucket of the game, with Shanea Armbrister drilling a three-pointer off an assist from Barbee to give UGA a, 14-8, lead heading into the second quarter.

LSU scored the first five points of the second period, but Armbrister drilled her second shot from behind the arc followed by a put-back shot from Barbee to extend the Lady Bulldog’s lead to 19-13. Georgia grabbed it largest lead at the time of seven points with just over two minutes to go in the half. The Lady Bulldogs held the Tigers to just 32-percent shooting from the field in the first half taking a, 25-22, lead into the break.

LSU forced four straight turnovers to begin the second half eventually taking its first lead of the game at, 26-25, at the 8:39 mark. The Lady Bulldogs answered with six consecutive points to take their lead back at, 31-26. Robinson made several big plays in the third period including two blocks and scoring a basket while drawing a foul to give Georgia a four-point lead. Griffin buried another three in transition pushing Georgia’s lead to nine with three minutes to go in the period.

The Lady Bulldogs opened the final quarter with a seven-point, 42-35, lead and went on a 6-2 run while forcing the Tigers to commit several turnovers. Georgia opened things up midway through the period taking a 15-point lead to ensure the victory. The Lady Bulldogs fought off everything the Tigers had to offer for the final minutes of the contest taking the game, 58-47.

The Lady Bulldogs hit the road again on Thursday traveling to Columbia, South Carolina to face the No. 2 South Carolina Gamecocks at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be shown on the SEC Network+.
