Opening Tip

A total of 4,827 students (grades 2nd-5th) from 14 elementary schools in the Athens-Clarke County School District will enter Stegeman Coliseum Tuesday morning to watch the Lady Bulldogs play. Georgia hosts Howard at 11 a.m. ET in a contest that will air live on SEC Network +.

The Lady Bulldogs face a quick turnaround for Tuesday’s contest. By the time Georgia and Howard tip off, it will have just been 44 hours since the Lady Bulldogs took down Georgia Tech, 60-53, on Sunday. Following the Howard contest, Georgia has a one-day break before hosting Wright State on Thursday at 1 p.m. ET.

These two teams have met just twice prior to Tuesday. Georgia and Howard played a home-and-home in 1987 and 1989, with the Lady Bulldogs taking commanding wins in both games.

Georgia enters the game after beating Georgia Tech, 60-53, on Sunday. The win against the then-9-1 Yellow Jackets improved the Lady Bulldogs’ record against Tech in Athens to 16-0 all-time.

Senior forward Mackenzie Engram is Georgia’s leading scorer and rebounder this season. Engram has scored in double figures in nine of 10 games and has already matched her double-double total from a season ago with two this year.

The Lady Bulldogs relied on a pair of freshmen guards down the stretch against Georgia Tech. Que Morrison and Gabby Connally were on the floor for most of the fourth quarter, with Connally playing eight minutes and Morrison adding seven minutes. Connally played a key role, scoring six of Georgia’s 14 fourth-quarter points.
