Opening Tip – Notes To Know Heading Into Tuesday

Georgia has stormed out to a 3-0 record to start the 2017-18 season and will look for its fourth-straight win Tuesday against Western Carolina at 7 p.m. ET inside Stegeman Coliseum.

The Lady Bulldogs have picked up back-to-back road victories against two teams — Virginia and Mercer — that won 20 or more games last season. Virginia had three starters back from last year’s squad, while Mercer had all five starters return from a team that went 25-7 and won the Southern Conference Championship last year.

Georgia’s early-season success is due in large part to freshman guard Que Morrison, who leads the team in scoring through the first three contests with 13.3 ppg. She has hit 50-percent (16-of-32) of her shots and is tied for the team lead with six steals. Georgia’s newcomers in the backcourt — Morrison, Taja Cole and Gabby Connally — have combined for 32 assists and are shooting a collectively 49 percent from the field.

Not to be outdone, Georgia’s veteran players Caliya Robinson and Mackenzie Engram have continued their strong finish from last season. Robinson has averaged a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds over the last 13 contests, while Engram has reached double figures in scoring in six of her last seven games.

Robinson, a preseason All-SEC honoree and member of the Katrina McClain Award watch list, has moved into ninth place on Georgia’s all-time career blocked shots records. She currently has 124 blocks in 60 total games played.
