Opening Tip – Notes To Know Heading Into Tuesday

Georgia is 4-0 and will play its third road game of the season when it treks to Provo, Utah to take on the BYU Cougars. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. MT/4 p.m. ET Saturday at the Marriott Center.

Saturday’s contest marks the third-straight year these two teams have met. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Cougars, 66-58, at the Radisson Thanksgiving Classic in 2015 and took an 81-51 victory in Athens a year ago. This is Georgia’s first-ever trip to Provo.

Georgia has won its first four games by an average margin of 21.6 points per contest. The Lady Bulldogs have totaled 307 points, marking the most the team has scored through its first four games since the 2007-08 season. This year also marks the first time since the 2003-04 campaign that Georgia will play three of its first five games on the road.

Early season success for the Lady Bulldogs can be credited in large part to a trio of newcomers — freshmen Que Morrison and Gabby Connally and redshirt-sophomore Taja Cole — who are three of Georgia’s top-5 scorers this season. Georgia’s veteran frontcourt combo of Mackenzie Engram and Caliya Robinson have also played well with Engram’s 13.8 ppg and 7.8 rpg to go along with Robinson’s 11.3 ppg and 7.0 rpg.

The Lady Bulldogs have been unselfish with the basketball this season. Through four games, Georgia ranks first in the SEC in total assists (84) and fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.4 with 84 assists and 61 turnovers). Individually, Cole is second in the league with 5.8 assists per game.
