Que Morrison, a freshman guard on the Georgia Lady Bulldogs basketball team, has been named the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
This is the first weekly honor for the Riverdale, Ga., native who currently ranks third among Georgia’s top scorers with 8.9 points per game. This past week, Morrison played a crucial role in two road wins and helped the Lady Bulldogs improve to 14-2 overall on the year.
“I am so happy for Que and the progress she continues to make in her freshman season,” head coach Joni Taylor said. “Que, like all of our freshmen, is learning and really starting to develop as we get into the heart of the SEC season. She was our leading scorer in a big road win at Kentucky and knocked in seven free-throws in the fourth quarter to really put the game away for us. That was a big time performance and I am so proud of her.”
Morrison was part of Georgia’s top-10 signing class in 2017 and has been a key contributor for the Lady Bulldogs. Not only is she the team’s third-leading scorer but she is also second in assists and fourth in steals.
After putting together a solid outing of eight points and six rebounds at Vanderbilt, Morrison led all scorers with 14 points at Kentucky, including seven made free-throws in the fourth quarter to seal Georgia’s win.
Morrison and the Lady Bulldogs host Arkansas at 7 p.m. ET Thursday at Stegeman Coliseum, before traveling to Texas A&M for a 3 p.m. ET tip on Sunday.
