The University of Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team earned the No. 4 seed and will receive a double bye in the 2021 Southeastern Conference Basketball Tournament in Greenville, S.C.

The 2021 SEC Tournament runs from March 3-7 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

Georgia will play in Friday’s quarterfinal round against either Florida, Auburn or No. 5 seed Kentucky. The Wildcats play the winner of the Florida versus Auburn contest Thursday afternoon. Georgia’s game will start at approximately 1 p.m. ET on Friday.

The potential semifinal matchup would be against No. 1 seed Texas A&M, which defeated South Carolina on Sunday to earn the conference’s regular season title.

The Lady Bulldogs have earned a No. 4 seed or higher 23 times in program history. Most recently, Georgia was a No. 3 seed in 2018 during head coach Joni Taylor’s third year with the program.

Georgia — a team that was picked ninth in the SEC preseason coaches poll —  just completed a remarkable regular season, finishing with an 18-5 overall record and 10-5 mark in league play. The Lady Bulldogs have exceeded expectations based on the preseason poll in five of Coach Taylor’s six years with the program.

The Lady Bulldogs have won the SEC tournament title four times in their history, with those championships coming in 1983, 1984, 1986 and 2001. Georgia is 49-37 in SEC tournament games dating back to 1980.
