EQUESTRIAN: Georgia Riders Sweep NCEA Monthly Honors

For the first time in program history, Georgia equestrian has earned all four National Collegiate Equestrian Association Rider of the Month honors. Junior Madison Anger (Horsemanship), sophomore Maddy Darst (Equitation Over Fences), Kyndall Harper (Reining), and Madison Newman (Equitation on the Flat) each claimed the award in their respective events for their performances throughout the month of November.

 

“What an outstanding national recognition these young ladies have received,” head coach Meghan Boenig said. “I’m so proud of the consistent hard work of this team and the sweep of the November Rider of the Month awards.”

 

Horsemanship rider Madison Anger, a native of Clyde Hill, Washington, remained unbeaten for the season after earning three wins in November, two of which were conference opponents. She averaged a score of 73 for the month and defeated opponents by an average of six points.

 

Maddy Darst defeated two conference opponents by an average of 34.25 points to earn the honor in Equitation Over Fences. She earned her first Most Outstanding Performance honor against SEC-foe South Carolina and added one more at Delaware State. The Lebanon, Ohio native scored an average of 85 throughout the month.

 

Captain Kyndall Harper earned the honors in Reining after going on a three-meet win streak in November. She defeated both conference opponents and earned MOP honors on the road at Delaware State. The St. Augustine, Florida native averaged a score of 70 and defeated opponents by an average of 12.5 points for the month.

 

Madison Newman of Wellington, Florida represented the Equitation on the Flat squad earning three wins with an average score of 84 after three meets. She defeated her opponents by an average of seven points, including two conference opponents.

 

The No. 1 Georgia equestrian team will return to action on February 3 when the Hunt Seat squad hosts Sweet Briar College.
