EQUESTRIAN: No. 1 Georgia to Host No. 8 South Carolina

The top-ranked Georgia equestrian team is back in action this week for a Southeastern Conference showdown as the Bulldogs welcome No. 8 South Carolina to the UGA Equestrian Complex on Friday, November 3 for a meet slated to begin at 1 p.m.

 
After riding to a strong 12-4 defeat of then-No. 1 Texas A&M, Georgia equestrian claimed the top spot in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association rankings. Next Georgia beat then-No. 6 TCU to improve to 3-0 on the season, holding a 1-0 mark in SEC action.
 
 
Senior Bailey Anderson has earned MOP honors in Horsemanship in all three meets this season. Three Georgia riders have earned the first MOP honors of their careers. Sophomore Annabeth Payne earned the honor in Reining at Fresno State to start the season, while junior Emma Mandarino was named MOP for her ride in Equitation Over Fences against Texas A&M. Sophomore Julia Spreng earned MOP honors in Reining at TCU.
 
 
Georgia’s Equitation Over Fences squad has jumped to a 2-0-1 record, while the Bulldogs are 2-1 in Equitation on the Flat for an overall Hunt Seat record of 2-0-1. The Reiners and Horsemanship riders both have perfect 3-0 records.
 
 
South Carolina dropped its first two meets to then-No. 1 Texas A&M and South Dakota State on the road, before bouncing back to upset then-No. 5 Oklahoma State in the Gamecocks’ home opener.
