The Georgia equestrian team will pursue the program’s seventh national championship this weekend at the Extraco Event Center in Waco, Texas. As second seed UGA will face tenth seed SMU in the quarterfinals of the 2016 NCEA National Championship.

SMU advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating seventh-seeded South Carolina 10-6 in the first round on Thursday. The Bulldogs and the Mustangs have not met since the 2014-15 season where Georgia and SMU tied in overall points 9-9. SMU outscored Georgia in raw score 1350-1524.25. The Mustangs entered the championship with a 6-7 regular season record and added two more losses in the UEC Championships against Tennessee-Martin and Delaware State.

The quarterfinal round is set to begin at approximately 9:00 a.m. CT Friday, April 15. Because all brackets will run concurrently, the meet will continue for the duration of the day.
